As piano concert artists and teachers, the music we play as Kevin & Katie Keys and what we listen to is very important to us. Good music can give us strength, relaxation, excitement, calmness, focus, and music can motivate us in so many ways. Music comes from many different sources and places and when we listen carefully we can hear special music coming from the nature that is all around us. Katie and I and our children are very sensitive to music and we respond to it when it’s around us. In fact we compose special music based on the beauty and music of the natural things that we see and hear.
To that end we wanted to share with other people the 2 most beautiful things that we have experienced in nature, and that would be Butterflies and Flowers. We love butterflies and flowers and they help to inspire the music that we write and play. These many butterflies and flowers throughout America are a great source of nature’s beauty which produce their own kind of audible “music.” It’s not the melodic music that people play and hear, but it’s their natural movement that translates into beauty and sound as far as we are concerned.
In fact, we love butterflies so much that we opened up a large “butterfly sanctuary” on private land which we call “Keys Butterfly Sanctuary.” We have a large colorful unique building especially built as a home for beautiful butterflies and for music loving people to visit and enjoy. It’s an amazing place with natural surroundings for the butterflies and for the people who visit there. If you have been to one of our piano performance concerts or you are one of our piano students, or have purchased one of our piano lesson books “Keys to Secret Ingredients to Fun Piano Playing in Just a Few Weeks,” then you are eligible to be invited and visit our beautiful “Keys Butterfly Sanctuary.”
This special sanctuary is not open to the general public and we do not publish its location or address. You would need to request a visit to this place by sending us a “reservation visit request” to our email, and if you qualify then we would let you know and place a reservation for you to come out and visit our butterfly sanctuary. There is an amazing assortment of butterflies flying all around inside this sanctuary in an environment that makes them feel “at home” and comfortable so they can live and operate normally while people are able to watch, observe, and interact with them. We believe that many butterflies make their own kind of natural “music” while our music plays in the background. As you walk through this beautiful place you will enjoy the sights and sounds of nature and music.
As far as our love for beautiful flowers go, we also opened a large flower farm on some other private property we have in our home state. This flower farm is there for one primary reason, to allow our invited guests a beautiful restful place to see and smell an amazing variety of flowers that are rarely seen together in one place. Since we are normally very busy with our piano concerts, lessons, and our children Karson & Kylie and their dog Kingston, we have some close friends who run this flower farm for us. Occasionally when we have the time we love to visit the farm and interact with the people there. It’s a fun beautiful place and people seem to love their experience at the Keys Flower Farm. Just like our Butterfly Sanctuary, you would need to qualify and be invited with a reservation to our private flower farm. Then we would reveal its location to you but you would be required not to disclose the location to anyone else. We do this so we can control the crowds.
Also, we wanted a way to thank our fans and supporters who visit our Flower Farm so we created a variety of special Signature Series Flower Pot Planters. We have these Flower Pot planters at the Flower Farm and we simply ask for a generous donation if you want one and then we use these donations to support piano students who cannot afford to take piano lessons. We feel it is so important and rewarding for children to learn to play a musical instrument, especially a piano. So we try to help as much as possible in this way. Our custom made Flower Pot Planters are really cute, colorful, and we even include Vinca flowers with each signature series planter, which are some of our favorite flowers. It’s a great way for us to “give back” to the music community and to children.
Finally, when it comes to celebrating America’s beautiful butterflies, flowers, and the piano music we love, we were recently honored by being given a custom designer polished white Concert Grand Piano with beautiful images of butterflies and flowers all over the lid and music rest of the piano. It is a one-of-a-kind grand piano that we received from the famous Kawai Piano Company. Although we had heard rumors that we might receive a special piano from a piano company, we had no idea it would be this amazing and come from our favorite piano company. The Kawai company produces excellent acoustic and digital pianos, but this one is completely “off the charts!” This is because it celebrates beautiful butterflies and flowers and also the piano music that we love. We cannot thank them enough and we hope to be playing this beautiful, impressive instrument very soon in some of our upcoming concerts.
