Kevin & Katie Keys Custom Piano Home
We would like to introduce you to our custom built “grand piano” style home. We are so dedicated to piano teaching, piano music, and piano playing that we wanted our home to be a direct refection of our love for pianos, especially grand pianos, whether they be acoustic or digital grand pianos. Our home was designed by some dear friends of ours who are professional home designers & architects and they were committed to seeing our “dream home” come true.
Our home is so musically realistic when it comes to replicating piano playing that even the “keys” surrounding the windows and the keys on the front porch & front patio cover of the house will physically move up & down like playing a real grand piano. We had special digital “piano player” technology built in so the keys would actually move and music would come out of the front of the house. The piano keys on our house are no ordinary piano keys because they can play music that most pianos cannot play because of the key patterns and unique configuration.
We love our piano home and are happy to let neighbors and friends come inside when we are home and are not busy. Whenever our family is home and not out on a piano tour or away with our kids Karson & Kylie on an adventure, we try to be outside and talk with our neighbors about their families and about music. We want close relationships with our neighbors and in turn we ask them not to reveal where we live because we try to keep crowds away from disturbing the neighborhood or trying to get our autographs and bothering our neighbors. In return for their cooperation we give their kids free piano lessons.
The inside of our home is amazing and our favorite room is our piano music room. This special music room is like no other and is where we practice our piano music and invite other piano players that we know into our home join us in playing piano music together. We even have a gigantic player grand piano that you can see in the image above that will play piano music by itself as a player piano, and we have been able to digitally program whatever music we want into that large custom grand piano.
It’s an amazing piano sound and an amazing piano and it’s the only one like it in the world as far as we know. It was designed and built for us by the famous Kawai Piano Company.
Kevin & Katie Keys Home Piano Practice Rooms
We have a few piano “practice rooms” in our home that are smaller, quieter, and used primarily to teach piano lessons. Here’s an example of a room we have where our children take lessons from us and can practice in privacy because this practice room is heavily insulated so they can play loud if they wish without being heard throughout the rest of the house.
Our practice rooms usually have a baby grand piano in them, a professional quality stage piano-keyboard, and a full size home digital piano. We normally have the latest models in medium price ranges so our students can play and practice on high quality instruments that will give them a more realistic key action touch, acoustic reproduction piano sound, and proper pedaling response.
We also use some of the latest iOS iPad apps on various digital pianos for additional visual training for our piano students of all ages so they can better understand and learn about music, ear training, and other important aspects of playing piano, such as rhythm & timing. Some of the latest piano and music education apps that we use in our teaching studios are able to visually help students learn to play piano more quickly and in a practical and useful way.
Just so you know, one of those educational digital pianos that we recommend is by the Korg digital piano company of Japan called the LP-380U. It currently sells for $1299 online and at music stores and it is a good example of a quality home digital piano that we recommend for interactive piano learning and piano playing..Our goal is to offer and recommend the best ways to learn to play music on a piano and for you to learn more about us as a family.
